Shoot ! Filming War
Documentary by Jean-Baptiste Thoret
52 min - Canal + Cinéma - 2016
Synopsis
En ligne de mire, comment filmer la guerre? features French filmmakers who have directed or worked on war films, getting a look at their vision of the genre, how it is changing, and the difficulty of approaching the subject from moral and technical perspectives. What makes a director choose the genre? Is it a desire to share a message, to entertain, or for “propaganda”? And how will they portray their war? Why choose to show one in particular and not another? Is there a difference between our time nowadays and that of Apocalypse Now, for example? What needs are specific to this kind of re-enactment cinema?
En ligne de mire was selected for the WARM Festival in Sarajevo, where it will be screened on June 27th.
With Jean-Jacques Annaud, Clément Cogitore, Bruno Dumont, Christophe Gans, Jean-Luc Godard, Michel Hazanavicius, Jean-Vincent Holeindre, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Florent-Emilio Siri, Bertrand Tavernier, Charles Tesson, Alice Winocour.
