Singing Futures, the cinema of Benoit Delépine and Gustave Kervern
Documentary by Stéphane Bergouhnioux, Gérard Bonnet & Jean-Marie Nizan
69 min - Canal + Cinéma - 2012
Synopsis
In the space of just a few years, Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern have made a series of films that map out a coherent, singular and personal artistic world. A world apart. Now, this filmography – one created to the metronomic rhythm of one film every two years – constitutes a fully-fledged body of work. A rather atypical one within the landscape of French cinema, situated between surrealism and social realism.
We meet the two directors in Les lendemains qui chantent and try to understand them better through interviews with actors featured in their films, from Gérard Depardieu to Miss Ming, Yolande Moreau, Albert Dupontel and Benoit Poelvoorde.
