Web documentary by Stéphane Bergouhnioux & Jean-Marie Nizan
48 min - RMN - 2014

Synopsis

Robert Mapplethorpe had a profound impact on both the history of photography and the history of art. In this web documentary, we go back in time and look at his process and his journey, which were intimately connected to New York.

From his birth in Queens in 1946 to his death in 1989, we take a stroll through New York from Coney Island to the Chelsea Hotel, meeting Patti Smith, Edward Maxey-Mapplethorpe, Edward White and Ken Moody along the way.
